It took me years to fulfill my personal dream of a journey on elephant back. I realized it by booking an one week elephant treck in Thailand. This was while my first travel in South East Asia. During my 9 weeks journey I visited several elephant places in Thailand and Laos and got a first view into the elephant situation in this part of the world. It made me sad to see under how much pressure the Asian elephant population is. I met wonderful people with big hearts who committed themselves to the elephants and their future. I learned that there are no easy solutions and that it is necessary to reflect the future of the elephants in a multiperspective way.
